about this album: I wrote this album whilst I was giving up music. Then i realised it was a bit like treading on some rising smoke, I wasn't giving up it just carried on emerging whilst I was doing other things. It was more i just stopped recording and thinking of myself as needing to record. After a while i carried on as before and because nobody's scrutinising you can switch on or off at your leisure.

Some other info..

CERBERE is a town on the border of France and Spain where i once had to leave a train as I didn't have my passport. I also have about 10 versions of this song and in the end used the first one which is kind of typical. I'd love to hear it with 2 classical guitars and a percussionist.

DISCOURAGEMENT , I'm not sure if thats's a real word, is the companionship and solidarity people feel whilst discussing other people's problems.

I KNOW YOU WELL features Charlotte Marionneau, a great singer and artist who's album 'I killed my best friend' I used to listen to for months alternating with Gonzales' solo piano and Ali Farka Toure's Red. They were a great cocktail together.

GATE was made with 3 friends whilst we didn't know we were making a song, reocrding short bits of vocals, making them shorter and shorter.

UNITY features Tabita Cargnel on violin. an interesting sound artist and violin player who is like a floating member of my live band , fingers crossed for the next gig she can make it.

WHEN YOU MOVE, more physical less analytical

NIGHT/NIGHT3 .. night2 was also nearly on here but the recording didn't work out, I also had a track called 'evening' which didn't make it either and at the early stage of putting things together i was thinking of sequencing it like the course of a day with morning and afternoon etc but that felt too contrived in the end.
